Amethyst

Amethyst is a stone of spiritual protection and purification; cleansing one’s energy field of negative influences and attachments. It creates a resonant shield of spiritual Light around the body. Known as a violet variety of quartz. The Greek word “amethystos” may be translated as “not drunken”- a reference to the belief that the stone protected its owner from drunkenness. The ancient Greeks wore amethyst and carved drinking vessels from it in the belief that it would prevent intoxication. Amethyst may exhibit one or both secondary hues, red and blue. It owes its violet color to irradiation, impurities of iron and in some cases other transition metals, and the presence of other trace elements, which result in complex crystal lattice substitutions. The hardness of the mineral is the same as quartz.

Ammonite

Ammonite is a very powerful earth healing fossil. Its spiral shape symbolizes continual change and evolution. Ammonites have absorbed cosmic energy over eons of time and help to stimulate the life force (Chi) within. In medieval Europe, fossilized ammonites were thought to be petrified coiled snakes, and were called “snakestones” or, more commonly in medieval England, “serpent stones”. They were considered to be evidence for the actions of saints, such as Hilda of Whitby, a myth referenced in Sir Walter Scott’s Marmion, and Saint Patrick, and were held to have healing or oracular powers.
